Fabric: 40 count Vintage Examplar by Lakeside Linens Floss: NPI with DMC conversion provided in 12 colors Stitch Count: 131 wide x 185 high Model Design Size: 6.55 wide x 9.25 inches Original: 8.2 inches wide x 11 ½ inches high Stitches Used: all cross stitch over two threads with cotton on 32 count linen Provenance: Elizabeth Smith’s work was completed on October 22nd, 1850, most likely in England. With such a common name nothing could be found about the stitcher, but her work tells us she was a beginner needleworker who added many creatively placed stitches which adds to the charm. This simple and colorful sampler is neatly proportioned with rows of alphabets and numbers. A lovely floral band is in the center with a unique basket and spray of flowers below the verse which reads: When house and Land is Gone and spent Learning Is most excellent
