I am happy to announce that Theresa Vanette of Shakespeare's Peddler (aka Kitten Stitcher on YouTube) will be our featured designer for the Fall 2024 Farm Girl Gathering, October 10-12, 2024 in Amana, Iowa. The cost of the retreat will be $595 and includes wonderful meals (lunch and dinner) catered by The Hotel Millwright on Friday and Saturday (where the retreat will be held). This is a new venue but still located in beautiful Amana, Iowa.
The Amana colonies are a cluster of 7 little villages all designed to be within a days walk of eachother. Originally settled by German immigrants, the villages were home to the longest living communinal society to date. The Hotel Millwright was once the local woolen mill and was converted into a hotel just a few years ago. The building has an industrial farmhouse vibe and is loaded with history. Many artifacts from the mill are used around the hotel as decor and parts of the mill are in still in operation. You can tour the mill during the retreat, free of charge. The rooms are beautiful and offer luxury bedding, oversized walk-in shower with luxury shower heads, coffee maker, refigerator, microwave, flat screen tv, wi-fi and friendly staff. The retreat will be held in their 2nd story, Merino Loft. At one time, this room housed an industrial loom and now offers a great space for a retreat with huge windows all around the room that provide great natural lighting. The streets of Amana are lined with charming homes in a style that is unique to the colonies. The shopping is something you will love to enjoy. Main street is loaded with antique and "unique to Amana" shops. You're sure to find a few treasures to bring home with you!
Theresa has planned a wonderful design for us! We will also have additional activites, that are always optional for you to participate, including a "smalls" exchange. These are always so much fun so I really encourage you to participate!
