This is the bottom left of a large antique Berlin work sampler, Band of Roses 1845, reproduced by Cross Stitch Antiques, which was obtained by the designer on September 8, 2016 from an estate sale in Downers Grove, Illinois. No history is known of the sampler maker or its origins. The original full antique is gorgeous with a multitude of rich colors, diversity of layout, and precision of stitches. It is done completely in cross stitch, with an intricate band of roses and florals above a New England style pastoral church scene with two tiny figures of a man and woman in genteel clothing on the church lawn. The chart of the full antique Band of Roses 1845 is available at www.crossstitchantiques.com.
