More than a decade ago, I designed my first monochromatic band sampler. I wasn’t intending it to be the start of a series, but over the years, I’ve followed it up with others, each in a different color and theme. I thought it high time to include another, and this time as an ode to my very favorite beverage : Coffee.
The words I’ve included between the bands come from a song that I learned in high school, when I was part of a small vocal ensemble. Every year for Valentine’s Day, we would sing “Valentunes” on behalf of anyone that wanted to hire us for the job. It was tons of fun, and those songs will likely be some of the last memories to go when I’m old and gray. The song is called, “You’re the Cream in My Coffee”, and was written by Buddy DeSylva, Lew Brown, and Ray Henderson. It was published in 1928 for the Broadway musical, Hold Everything!
